‘TIS PITY SHE’S A WHORE by John Ford

Really striking play. Sadly, not all that memorable for the most part. I read it just a few months ago and have already nearly forgotten the entire subplot! The mystery of how Giovanni and Annabella came to be infatuated with each other is handled with commendable restraint. Giovanni is well-drawn and surprisingly sympathetic. This play needs a strong production to bring out its essence.
