A wonderful trio of tales, keenly observed and full of the humor and pain of everyday life. The characters and situations will be almost painfully familiar if you’ve ever fallen out of love, felt your life moving in the wrong direction or realized that things will never be quite what you always thought they should be. However, the stories are never too harsh since they are always tinged with compassion and maybe, just maybe, a little bit of hope. My favorite is the first one, “The Life and Times of Biddy Schumacher: A Fantastic Story,” which is quirky in all the great ways that used to define that now overused word. All three are well worth reading, however. Highly recommended!
